Royal Randwick Racecourse is located in Eastern Suburbs in Sydney. It is one of the two premier racecourses in Sydney, the other one being Rosehill Gardens Racecourse.
The BMW Sydney Carnival is Sydney’s premier racing carnival and a world-class event held over six weeks in Autumn. Boasting the finest thoroughbred racing with over $20 million in prize money and a staggering 49 Group races. Royal Randwick stages the last three carnival days - The Championships Day 1, The Championships Day 2 and Schweppes Stakes Day.
The Championships Day 1 will be headlined by the world’s richest open sprint race, the $2.5 million Darley TJ Smith Stakes, the world’s richest mile, the $3 million The Star Doncaster Mile and iconic feature race the $2 million BMW Australian Derby.
The Championships Day 2 will take on a decidedly Royal feel with the world’s richest 2000m turf race, the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes with a prize purse of $4 million, the Group 1 Queen of the Turf Stakes, the Group 2 Royal Sovereign Stakes and Group 3 Royal Randwick Stakes.
The grand finale of the Carnival, Schweppes Stakes Day, where the thoroughbred stars face off for one last “showdown” in the Group 1 All Aged Stakes. A place in racing history awaits a potential “Triple Crown” winner in the Group 1 Moet and Chandon Champagne Stakes.
