Test Rugby

The Rugby World Cup has come and gone, but 2012 offers the rugby fan plenty of Super 15 action and Test Match rugby which will include the Four-Nations concept for the first time and tests against a revitalised Wales. Argentina's inclusion into the southern hemispheres elite competition will certainly add some spice to the domestic test season and as our rugby Legends Mark Ella states, " don't under estimate the Puma"!!
But before the Four Nations, we have a one off Test v Scotland where Australia will be out to put on a good showing, especially since the Scott's had a win against us and not that long ago! But injuries are taking there toll with some key positions now being up for grabs and with a number of new caps in the extended squad, it should be an interesting time.
The conditions were atricious as driving winds and heavy rain lashed Newcastle for the Wallabies first test match on home soil of the 2012 season. Ranked No. 12 in the world test rankings, Scotland came to Australia to play a "one off" test and Australia was expected to dominate. The conditions brought the teams closer together and just like in Murryfield in 2009, the outcome came down to a kick at goal with the Scots victorious again over Australia 9 - 6. A similar start to 2011 when Australia was beaten by Samoa in the first domestic test of the year and we will now have to re-group again to contest a bruising three test campaign with the in-form Welsh.
A good win under the Wallabies belt but with two tests to go, can we keep the continuity going - we hope so!!
How close was that!! It could have gone either way but what a great test. The focus moves to Sydney for the final test v Wales which is a sellout. Don't miss this test, its going to be a beauty!!
A clean sweep of the Welsh (just) see's the Wallabies in a good position leading into Four Nations Tests but the AB's have put their cards on the table as the test benchmark after completely overwhelming the Irish 60 - 0 in New Zealand. All the southern hemisphere teams have performed well in recent tests which sets the scene for some great test rugby in August/September/October.
